Victoria General Hospital’s glazing is now protected with our product, GGL400. A seismically tested, universal standard for the mitigating of glazing.
After a long procurement period, Paul Johnson and his team of 6 professional installers were awarded all 3 phases of the Victoria General Hospital’s upgrade of their exisiting windows to universal seismic standards. The entire scope of work took over 16 months to complete and consisted of just over 6000 windows.
Safety staff at VHIA wanted to ensure that in the case of a major seismic event the Victoria General Hospital would be able to continue serving the community by providing a safe environment for personal care and attention by installing a seismic safety window film to every piece of interior and exterior glass.
“We used our product GGL400 which was tested and approved as a seismic mitigation product for glazing by the University of British Columbia back in 2001, www.prodigywindowfilms.com/pdf/gg-seismic.pdf to make sure that in the case of a major seismic event, the fragmentation of glass would be contained and held inside of the window frames and not harm anyone”.
Since then, we’ve installed this same earthquake window film to over 137 public and private schools around the British Columbia and most of our local public buildings like Victoria City Hall, Canadian Red Cross, several VIHA locations, local media outlets and the Saanich Municipality Fire and Police stations to only name a few.
This level of protection is not costly and is available to homeowners.
